Ο Φράντισεκ Βλάτσιλ (τσεχικά: František Vláčil, 19 Φεβρουαρίου 1924 - 28 Ιανουαρίου 1999) ήταν Τσέχος βραβευμένος σκηνοθέτης, σεναριογράφος ζωγράφος και γραφίστας. Είναι ιδιαίτερα γνωστός για την ταινία του Μαρκέτα Λαζάροβα, η οποία θεωρείται μία από τις σπουδαιότερες τσεχικές ταινίες όλων των εποχών.

Βιογραφία

Ο Φράντισεκ Βλάτσιλ γεννήθηκε στις 19 Φεβρουαρίου του 1924 στο Τσέσκι Κεσίν, της Τσεχοσλοβακίας.[8] Το 1945 ξεκίνησε να σπουδάζει καλλιτεχνικά και ιστορία τέχνης, στο Πανεπιστήμιο Μασάρικ, στο Μπρνο, έως το 1951, όπου και αποφοίτησε.[9] Κατόπιν, άρχισε να έχει ενδιαφέρον για τον κινηματογράφο και άρχισε να ασχολείται με ντοκιμαντέρ κινουμένων σχεδίων, αλλά και προπαγανδιστικά μικρού μήκους βίντεο, για τον Στρατό. Αν και όπως είπε και ο ίδιος ότι ποτέ δε σπούδασε κινηματογράφο, το 1960 κυκλοφόρησε η πρώτη ταινία, μετά από κάποια ντοκιμαντέρ, ονόματι Holubice.[10]

Το 1962 κυκλοφόρησε την ταινία Ďáblova past. Ενώ το 1967, κυκλοφόρησε την ταινία Μαρκέτα Λαζάροβα, η οποία ήταν βασισμένη σε μυθιστόρημα του Βλαντισλάβ Βαντσούρα. Η ταινία αυτή, θεωρείται μία από τις πιο σημαντικές του, ενώ έχει χαρακτηριστεί και ως αριστούργημα.[11] Μάλιστα, σε ψηφοφορία που έγινε στην Τσεχία, το 1998, ψηφίστηκε η καλύτερη τσεχική ταινία όλων των εποχών, από κριτικούς και αρθρογράφους.[12][13] Η ταινία τοποθετείται την εποχή του Μεσαίωνα, σε ακαθόριστο χρονικά σημείο του.[11] To 1969, θα κυκλοφορήσει άλλη γνωστή ταινία του το Adelheid.

Ο Βλάτσιλ θα συνεχίσει να σκηνοθετεί και στις επόμενες δύο δεκαετίες. Η τελευταία του ταινία, κυκλοφόρησε το 1987, με τίτλο Mág. Ενώ το 1985, θα κάνει την πρώτη του και τελευταία του τηλεοπτική δουλειά, με τη τηλεταινία, Albert.[14] Ο Βλάτσιλ απεβίωσε στις 28 Ιανουαρίου του 1999, στην Πράγα.[8]

Διακρίσεις

Το κινηματογραφικό του ντεμπούτο, το 1960, με την ταινία Holubice, ήταν επιτυχημένο, καθώς η ταινία εισήχθη στο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Βενετίας. Ενώ άλλη μία υποψηφιότητα είχε και το 1967, για την ταινία Μαρκέτα Λαζάροβα, στο Φεστιβάλ Καρλόβι Βάρι. Την προηγούμενη φορά που υπήρξε υποψήφια ταινία του σε αυτό το φεστιβάλ, είχε κερδίσει, το 1978, με το Stíny horkého léta. Στο ίδιο Φεστιβάλ τιμήθηκε το 1998 για τη συνολική του προσφορά στον παγκόσμιο κινηματογράφο. Το 1990, με την ταινία Adelheid, κέρδισε στο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Πίλσεν. Τέλος, το 1994, έλαβε κι ένα βραβείο από το Φεστιβάλ Lion της Τσεχίας. [15]
