Παπαστράτειο δημοτικό πάρκο Αγρινίου

Το Παπαστράτειο είναι μεγάλο δημοτικό πάρκο στο κέντρο της πόλης του Αγρινίου.

Ιστορία

Η παλιά ονομασία του μέρους όπου σήμερα βρίσκεται το Παπαστράτειο Πάρκο ήταν «Λυκοράχια[1]» και ανήκε στην οικογένεια Χατζόπουλου. Το 1919 οι Αδελφοί Παπαστράτου αγόρασαν από τον Αγρινιώτη ποιητή Κώστα Χατζόπουλο μια έκταση 54 στρεμμάτων στα τότε όρια της πόλης του Αγρινίου και την διαμόρφωσαν να γίνει χώρος αναψυχής για τους κατοίκους του Αγρινίου[2].

Σήμερα η έκταση αυτή ανήκει στον Δήμο Αγρινίου[2] και, κυρίως την άνοιξη και το καλοκαίρι, φιλοξενεί πολιτιστικές, θεατρικές και μουσικές εκδηλώσεις. Μέσα στο πάρκο λειτουργεί αναψυκτήριο. Στο πάρκο υπάρχει το εκκλησάκι της «Αγίας Σωτήρας», αλλά και παιδική χαρά.

Τα τελευταία πολλά χρόνια βρίσκεται υπό ανάπλαση[3].
