Ο Κρατικός Αερολιμένας Σύρου «Δημήτριος Βικέλας» (συντομογραφίες: IATA: JSY, ICAO: LGSO, ΥΠΑ: ΚΑΣΟΒ), βρίσκεται σε απόσταση περίπου 2 χιλιομέτρων από το κέντρο της πόλης της Ερμούπολης και βρίσκεται διοικητικά εντός του ενιαίου Δήμου Σύρου - Ερμούπολης. Το προσωνύμιο "Δημήτριος Βικέλας" το πήρε προς τιμήν του Έλληνα ποιητή, πεζογράφου και λογοτέχνη Δημήτρη Βικέλα, ο οποίος γεννήθηκε στο νησί της Σύρου.

Ιστορικά γεγονότα

  • 1991: Με την Υπουργική Απόφαση ΥΠΜΕ Δ3/Α/6912/690/91[2] ιδρύεται και λειτουργεί ο Κρατικός Αερολιμένας Σύρου για τη χρησιμοποίηση από ελαφρά αεροσκάφη προς εκτέλεση τακτικών και έκτακτων πτήσεων εσωτερικού.
