Sonja Wiesmann

Sonja Wiesmann (* 23. Februar 1966 in Müllheim; heimatberechtigt in Uesslingen und Gottlieben) ist eine Schweizer Politikerin (SP). Sie führt als Regierungsrätin des Kantons Thurgau das Departement für Justiz und Sicherheit.

Leben

Sonja Wiesmann wuchs in der Arbeitersiedlung Grüneck auf, einem Webereidorf ausserhalb von Müllheim TG. Sie machte eine Lehre als Tiefbauzeichnerin und danach ein Studium als Tiefbautechnikerin. Von 1990 bis 2006 arbeitete sie in einem Frauenfelder Unternehmen als Bauführerin, nach einem Unterbruch aufgrund der Geburt ihrer Zwillingstöchter von 2007 bis 2009 in einer Zürcher Firma als Kalkulatorin.[1]

Politik

Seit 2005 sass sie im Grossen Rat des Kantons Thurgau, ab 2015 als Präsidentin der SP-Fraktion. Seit 2009 wirkte sie als Gemeindepräsidentin von Wigoltingen. Bei den Gesamterneuerungswahlen 2024 wurde sie als Nachfolgerin von Cornelia Komposch in den Thurgauer Regierungsrat gewählt.[2] Von ihr übernahm sie am 1. Juni 2024 das Departement für Justiz und Sicherheit.
