Patsy Lawlor

Patricia „Patsy“ Lawlor (* als Patricia Broughal am 17. März 1933 in Kill, County Kildare, Republik Irland; † 19. Dezember 1997 in Dublin) war eine irische Politikerin der Fine Gael. Sie war von Oktober 1981 bis Mai 1982 Mitglied des Seanad Éireann, des Oberhauses des irischen Parlaments (Oireachtas).

Patsy war mit dem Landwirt Tony Lawlor verheiratet und hatte vier Kinder, darunter auch Anthony Lawlor. Nach der Schulzeit wurde Lawlor als Krankenschwester ausgebildet. 1974 wurde sie erstmals in den Kildare County Council gewählt und konnte diesen Sitz jeweils zuletzt mit den Wahlen 1991 verteidigen. Sie trat bei den Wahlen zum Dáil Éireann 1981 und zu den Wahlen im Februar 1982 im Wahlkreis Kildare an. Sie konnte jedoch keinen Sitz erringen. Stattdessen wurde sie 1981 über die Kultur- und Bildungsliste in den 15. Seanad Éireann gewählt.[1] 1983 verlor sie den Sitz im Seanad Éireann. 1991 trat sie wiederum, aber ohne die Parteimitgliedschaft, bei den Kommunalwahlen an. Zuvor war sie aus der Fine Gael ausgetreten. Sie wurde auch nicht zu den Wahlen zum Dáil Éireann 1992 im Wahlkreis Kildare gewählt.

Patsy war Mitglied der Irish Countrywomen’s Association und von 1976 bis 1979 deren Präsidentin.
