Kinnitty (irisch Cionn Eitigh) ist ein Ort im County Offaly im Zentrum der Republik Irland mit 270 Einwohnern (Stand: 2022).[1]

Lage und Verkehrsanbindung

Kinnitty liegt am Fuß der Slieve Bloom Mountains an der westlichen Seite der Berge. Mehrere Regionalstraßen führen durch Kinnitty. Dabei ist die Straße R440 nach Mountrath die einzige Regionalstraße, die über die Slieve Bloom Mountains führt.

An das irische Eisenbahnnetz war Kinnitty nie angebunden.

Die TFI Local Link-Buslinie 823 zwischen Birr und Port Laoise fährt Kinnitty in jede Richtung viermal am Tag an.[2]

Sehenswürdigkeiten

  • Nördlich von Kinnitty steht im Townland Castletown and Glinsk auf dem Gelände des Kinnitty Castle Hotels ein vermutlich aus dem 9. Jahrhundert stammendes (beschädigtes) Hochkreuz.[3]
  • Nahe Kinnitty beginnen Wanderwege in die Slieve Bloom Mountains.
