Die Bezirksliga Karl-Marx-Stadt 1952/53 war die erste Austragung der vom Bezirksfachausschuss (BFA) Fußball Karl-Marx-Stadt durchgeführten Bezirksliga Karl-Marx-Stadt. Sie war die höchste Spielklasse im Bezirk Karl-Marx-Stadt und die dritthöchste im Ligasystem auf dem Gebiet des DS. Durch die Verwaltungsreform im Juli 1952 in der DDR wurden 15 Bezirke (inklusive Ost-Berlin) anstelle der Länder gegründet. Daraufhin gab es auch im Fußball Änderungen im Ligasystem, so dass die Bezirksligen die ehemaligen Landesklassen ersetzten. Die Saison begann am 28. September 1952 als Bezirksliga Chemnitz und endete nach der Umbenennung der Stadt und des Bezirks Chemnitz am 10. Mai 1953 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, am 21. Juni 1953 als Bezirksliga Karl-Marx-Stadt.

Die BSG Chemie Glauchau wurde erster Bezirksmeister und nahm an der Aufstiegsrunde zur DDR-Liga teil. In der Staffel 3 kam Glauchau punktgleich mit der BSG Chemie Schönebeck hinter Staffelsieger Motor Hennigsdorf ein. Im Entscheidungsspiel um den zweiten Aufsteiger setzte sich Glauchau mit 3:0 gegen Schönebeck in Nordhausen durch und stieg in die DDR-Liga auf.

In eine der untergeordneten Bezirksklassestaffeln stiegen die Sportgemeinschaften (SG) Ellefeld und Reichenbach ab. Im Gegenzug stiegen zur Folgesaison die beiden Bezirksklassensieger BSG Fortschritt Thalheim (Staffel Ost) und BSG Aufbau Aue-Bernsbach (Staffel West) sowie die SG Rodewisch (2. Staffel West) auf.
