Fabia Arete
Fabia Arete war eine römische Schauspielerin, genauer Darstellerin von Mimen, aus der frühen Kaiserzeit.
Sie ist bekannt von ihrem in Rom gefundenen, auf die frühe Kaiserzeit (im Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum auf zwischen 1 und 50 n. Chr.) datierten Grabmonument mit Inschrift. Darauf wird sie als Freigelassene eines Marcus Fabius Regillus, dessen Gentilname Fabius sie übernahm, sowie als archimima temporis sui prima („erste archimima ihrer Zeit“) und diurna bezeichnet.[1] Diurni bzw. diurnae waren solche Schauspieler, die von einem Tagesgeld für ihre Darstellungen lebten statt von einem festen Gehalt; eine archimima war die Hauptdarstellerin und Leiterin eines Ensembles von Schauspielerinnen und Schauspielern (grex).
Ihre Grabinschrift (Epitaph) zeigt ihren großen Wohlstand an, da sie diese nicht nur für sich selbst, sondern auch für ihren Patron Marcus Fabius Regillus sowie für 14 weitere namentlich genannte Mitglieder des Fabier-Haushalts setzte.[2] Es könnte sich dabei um Mitglieder ihrer Theatertruppe gehandelt haben.[3]
