Catharanthin ist ein Alkaloid aus der Gruppe der Catharanthus-Alkaloide.
Vorkommen
Catharanthin wird hauptsächlich aus dem auf Madagaskar beheimateten Strauch Rosafarbene Catharanthe (Catharanthus roseus) extraktiv gewonnen.[2]
Eigenschaften
Catharanthin zeigt blutzuckersenkende und harntreibende Eigenschaften.[2]
Verwendung
Es wird hauptsächlich zur Synthese von Vinblastin und Vincristin benötigt.[2]
