C.I. Acid Blue 119 ist ein synthetischer organischer Farbstoff aus der Gruppe der Triphenylmethan- und Säurefarbstoffe. Als Textilfarbstoff eignet er sich zur Färbung von Wolle und Seide. Im nichttextilen Bereich findet er als pH-Indikator und in Drucktinten Verwendung.[2] Die freie Säure wird auch unter der Bezeichnung C.I. Pigment Blue 61[S 1] verwendet.[3]

Darstellung

Acid Blue 119 erhält man durch Sulfonierung von C.I. Solvent Blue 23[S 2] (C.I. 42760) mit konzentrierter Schwefelsäure und anschließender Neutralisation mit Natronlauge.[4]

Eigenschaften

Acid Blue 119 liegt als dunkelblaues bis violettblaues Pulver vor. Es ist in Wasser nur wenig, in polaren organischen Lösungsmitteln besser löslich. Als Indikator zeigt Acid Blue 119 eine Farbmischung von Blau zu Rot im stark alkalischen Bereich (pH-Wert ca. 9,4–14,0).[5]
