Die 1. Lig 1982/83 war die 25. Spielzeit der höchsten türkischen Spielklasse im Männer-Fußball. Sie begann am 28. August 1982 mit dem Spiel Galatasaray Istanbul gegen Mersin İdman Yurdu, welches 1:0 ausging und endete am 19. Juni 1983. Vom 9. Januar 1983 bis 20. Februar 1983 wurde die Saison durch die Winterpause unterbrochen.

Am 12. Juni 1983, dem 33. Spieltag, sicherte sich Fenerbahçe Istanbul durch ein 2:1-Auswärtssieg gegen Bursaspor einen Spieltag vor Saisonende vorzeitig die 10. Meisterschaft der Vereinsgeschichte.[2]

Die Liga wurde in dieser Saison um eine weitere Mannschaft auf nun 18 Teilnehmer aufgestockt.

Teilnehmer

Für die 1. Lig 1982/83 sind zu den aus der vorherigen Saison verbliebenen 14 Vereine die vier Aufsteiger aus der letzten Zweitligasaison dazugekommen. Dadurch ist die Teilnehmeranzahl von 17 auf 18 Teilnehmer angestiegen. Die Aufsteiger waren die vier Zweitligameister Sarıyer GK, Antalyaspor, Mersin İdman Yurdu und Samsunspor. Während der Aufstieg für Antalyaspor und für den Istanbuler Verein Sarıyer GK die erste Erstligateilnahme der Vereinsgeschichte bedeutete, kehrte Samsunspor mit dem Aufstieg nach vier Jahren in die 1. Lig zurück. Mersin İdman Yurdu erreichte durch die Zweitligameisterschaft den direkten Wiederaufstieg.
