Fferyllydd ac academydd o Gymru oedd Cecil Wilfrid Luscombe "Bill" Bevan, CBE (2 Ebrill 1920 – 19 Ebrill 1989). Bu'n Brifathro Coleg y Brifysgol, Caerdydd o 1966 hyd 1987. Bu hefyd yn Is-Ganghellor Prifysgol Cymru am ddau dymor: 1973 i 1975 a 1981 i 1983.[1]

Gyrfa academaidd

Bu Bevan yn gweithio ym Mhrifysgol Caerwysg rhwng 1949 a 1953, cyn symud i Brifysgol Ibadan yn Nigeria. Bu'n bennaeth ei Hadran Cemeg o 1953 a 1966, a'i Is-bennaeth a'i Ddirprwy Is-Ganghellor o 1960 hyd 1964.[1]

Gwobrau ac anrhydeddau

Yn Anrhydeddau'r Flwyddyn Newydd ym 1965, penodwyd Bevan yn Gadlywydd Urdd yr Ymerodraeth Brydeinig (CBE). Fe'i gwnaed yn swyddog o'r Ordre des Palmes Académiques gan lywodraeth Ffrainc yn 1986.[1]

Ym 1969, gwnaed Bevan yn Gymrawd o Goleg Prifysgol Llundain (UCL);[1] mae hwn yn benodiad anrhydeddus sy'n cydnabod "rhagoriaeth yn y celfyddydau, llenyddiaeth, gwyddoniaeth, busnes neu fywyd cyhoeddus".[2] Dyfarnwyd gradd Doethur mewn Gwyddoniaeth (DSc) er anrhydedd iddo ym 1973 gan Brifysgol Ibadan.[1] Yn 1982, fe'i gwnaed yn Gymrawd er Anrhydedd o Goleg y Brifysgol, Caerdydd.[1]
