Ljudski vrat

Vrat je naziv za dio tijela kod većine kopnenih kičmenjaka koji se nalazi između glave i torza.

Osovinu vrata čine vratni pršljenovi kojih kod sisara ima sedam. Kroz vrat, osim brojnih krvnih sudova i živaca, prolaze dušnik i jednjak, a u vratu su smještene i štitna i paraštitna žlijezda. Vrat podržava težinu glave i štiti živce koji prenose senzorne i motoričke informacije od mozga do ostatka tijela. Osim toga, vrat je vrlo fleksibilan i omogućava glavi da se okreće i savija u svim smjerovima. Strukture ljudskog vrata su anatomski grupisane u četiri odjeljka: vertebralni, visceralni i dva vaskularna odjeljka.[1] Unutar ovih odjeljaka, u vratu se nalaze vratni pršljenovi i vratni dio kičmene moždine, gornji dijelovi respiratornog i probavnog sistema, endokrine žlijezde, nerve, arterije i vene.

U anatomiji, vrat se naziva i svojim latinskim nazivima, cerviks ili collum.[2][3]
