Химн на Гърция в Общомедия

Гръцкият национален химн „Химн за свободата“ (Ύμνος εις την Ελευθερίαν[1]) е написан от Дионисиос Соломос през 1823 г.

Това е най-дългият национален химн в света и има 158 строфи.

През 1823 г. Дионисиос Соломос, черпейки вдъхновение от Гръцката война за независимост, композира поемата Химн на свободата, състояща се от 158 стиха, което я прави най-дългият национален химн в света по текст. Поемата описва страданието, което е претърпял гръцкият народ по време на османското владичество и жаждата му за свобода. Николаос Манцарос композира музиката към стихотворението през 1865 г. Поради дължината на стихотворението, гръцкото правителство приема първите две строфи като официален химн на страната през 1865 г.

Интересното е, че без никаква промяна той се използва и като национален химн на Република Кипър.
