Música pop (apócope de popular) ye la que, al marxe de la instrumentación y teunoloxía aplicada pa la so creación, conserva la estructura formal "versu - estribillu - versu", executada d'un mou cenciellu, melódicu, apegadizu, y normalmente asimilable pal gran públicu. Les sos grandes diferencies con otros estilos tán nes voces melódiques y clares en primer planu y percusiones lliniales y repitíes.

Históricamente, la espresión "música pop" nun yera entendida como un xéneru musical con carauterístiques musicales concretes.
