El ovariu (lat. ovum, güevu; gr. ooforon) ye la gónada o órganu reproductor femenín productor y secretor d'hormones sexuales y óvulos.[1] Son estructures pares con forma d'almendra, con midíes de 1x2x3 cm na muyer fértil (anque varia mientres el ciclu), y un pesu d'unos 6 a 7 gramos, de color blancu buxu, afitaos a entrambos llaos del úteru polos lligamentos uteroováricos y a la paré pelviana polos infundíbulos pelvianos. El so equivalente masculín seríen los testículos.[2]

Midíes de suxeción

L'ovariu tien midíes de suxeción p'afitalo nuna posición que son:

  • El lligamentu úteru-ováricu: va dende la porción medial del ovariu al fondu del úteru.
  • El lligamentu suspensorio: dirixir del ovariu a la paré abdominal.

  • El mesosálpinx: afita al ovariu a les trompes de Falopio.
  • El lligamentu tubu-ováricu: xune al ovariu col pabellón de la trompa de Falopio.

Hormones del ovariu

Les hormones que produz l'ovariu son los estróxenos, quien son los responsables de la crecedera del endometriu mientres la fase proliferativa del ciclu menstrual, la progesterona, que ye la hormona qu'evita'l desprendimientu del endometriu ricu en glucóxenu mientres la fase secretora del ciclu menstrual y la inhibina, que torga la secreción de la FSH dende la hipófisis. Con ayuda d'estes hormones l'óvulu va acabar enllantándose nel endometriu. Oforectomía

La oforectomía ye'l procesu quirúrxicu que consiste na extirpación d'unu o los dos ovarios. Denominar entós ooforectomía uni o billateral. Esta operación puede realizase al traviés del abdome por ciruxía laparoscópica o bien por ciruxía convencional. Cuando ye de dambos ovarios dexa a la muyer imposibilitada de producir óvulos y hormones entrando ésta en menopausia d'orixe quirúrxicu. Nos casos na que la paciente ye portadora d'un tumor ováricu non cancerosu sácase namái l'ovariu afeutáu pudiendo l'ovariu restante suplir toles funciones. En casu de duviesos ováricos benignos, xeneralmente se extirpa namái'l duviesu.

Regación

La regación del ovariu ta dada pola artería gonadal o arteria ovárica (siendo l'arteria testicular pal home) caña direuta de l'aorta abdominal, que pasen a los ovarios a tráves de los lligamentos suspensorios, esta arteria se anastomosan cola segunda fonte de regación del ovariu, les ramificaciones ováriques de les arteries uterines, que s'anicien nes arteries ilíacas internes.
