Charles Frederick Kiraly, más conocíu como Karch Kiraly (3 de payares de 1960, Jackson (es) Traducir), ye un ex xugador de voleibol y de voleibol de sablera y entrenador de voleibol d'Estaos Xuníos, actual seleccionador de la selección femenina d'Estaos Xuníos.[3]

Trayeutoria

Xugador

Kiraly participa en torneos de voleibol y de voleibol sablera dende la infancia y con 15 años entra nel equipu de voleibol de la so escuela, la Santa Barbara High School, risultando ser unos de los meyores xugadores del estáu de California ente 1975 y 1978. En 1978 allega a la UCLA y colos Ozesnzos gana tres campeonatos NCAA (1979, 1981, 1982); en 1981 ye escoyíu per primer vegada pol equipu d'Estaos Xuníos. Ye l'empiezu d'una etapa llena de trunfos na seleición d'Estaos Xuníos cola cual gana dos veces l'oru olímpico nos xuegos de Los Angeles 1984 y de Seúl 1988, siendo tamién nomáu MVP na segunda ocasión.En 1983 y 1985 consigue ganar el Campeonatu norteamericanu y en 1986 ye unu de los protagonistes de la victoria d'Estaos Xuníos nel Mundial de Francia.[4]

Quedar nos Estaos Xuníos hasta'l 1988 cuando decide dexar la seleición, retirase del voleibol y dedicase al voleibol de sablera; inda na temporada 1990/1991 colar a Italia y xuega dos años como profesional de voleibol nel Porto Ravenna Volley. En tan solo 24 meses consigue ganar un campeonatu, una copa d'Italia, la Champions League 1991/1992, la Supercopa d'Europa 1992 y el Mundial de clubes de 1991.[5]

Terminada la temporada 1991/1992 retírase definitivamente del voleibol y empieza una esitosa carrera nel voleibol sablera. En 1996 nos Xuegos olímpicos d'Atlanta fizo historia al ganar la medaya d'oru nel voleibol de sablera (al pie de Kent Steffes) siendo'l primer xugador en coronase campeón olímpicu en voleibol y voleibol de sablera. Termina la so llarga y esitosa carrera deportiva en 1997 a la edá de 37 años y en 2001 ye incluyíu na Volleyball Hall of Fame.[6]

Entrenador

En 2009 empieza la so carrera como entrenador asistente na selección femenina d'Estaos Xuníos y en 2012 ye nomáu seleccionador. Pel branu 2014 consigue ganar el Mundial de voleibol apostáu n'Italia, ganando a la seleición de China por 3-1 na final.[7] L'añu siguiente lidera l'equipu d'Estaos Xuníos a la victoria nel Grand Prix de Voleibol.
