Jocs Florals

Los Jocs Florals (Xuegos Florales n'asturianu), tamién denomaos Jocs de la Gaia Ciència, son certámenes lliterarios qu'impulsen y difunden la llingua catalana.

Orixe y difusión

Los Jocs Florals foron un certame lliterariu instituyíu en Toulouse nel añu 1323 pola Sobregaya Companyia dels Set Trobadors y que va celebrase fasta'l 1484, onde tamién concurríen trobadores y poetes catalanes. Depués d'estremaos intentos, en 1393, por deseyu del rei Joan I, el Consistoriu de la Gaia Ciència instálase en Barcelona fasta'l sieglu XV so l'abellugu de los monarques catalano-aragoneses.

Los Jocs Florals de Barcelona tornen a instaurase el primer domingu de mayu de 1859 por mor de les iniciatives d'Antoni de Bofarull y de Víctor Balaguer, col lema Patria, Fides, Amor, en referencia a los tres premios ordinarios: la Flor Natural o premiu d'honor, que se-y concedía ala meyor poesía d'amor, l'Englantina d'or a la meyor poesía patriótica y la Viola d'or i argent al meyor poema relixosu. Arriendes, había otros premios ordinarios. El ganador de los trés premios ordinariu investíase col títulu de Mestre en Gai Saber. Un gran sector de los inteleutuales y de los políticos catalanes da sofitu a los Xuegos Florales faciendo por contribuyir d'esti xeitu al prestixu de la lliteratura catalana culta.
