El beleñu[1] (Hyoscyamus niger) ye una especie de fanerógama perteneciente a la familia de les solanacees que crez en toa Europa, Asia central y occidental y América del Norte. Crez en terrenes arenosos, baldíos, turries, terremplénes y cantos de carreteres.

Descripción

Ye una planta que puede ser añal o biañal, robusta y de 4-10 dm d'altor, con un golor desagradable. Les fueyes son grandes, alternes, dentaes y agudes de color verde maciu con pelusa. Les flores tienen color mariellu-ocre con venillas color violeta marrón na so base. El frutu ye una cápsula,[2] ye un pixidio de dos cámares separaes por un tabique medianu y que contién numberoses granes, milimétriques de contorna tri-cuadrangular, esplanaes, de color marrón y cubiertes de hoyitos de forma irregular.

Les fueyes y granes contienen: alcaloides tropánicos: escopolamina (más del 50%), hiosciamina, atropina, abondosos flavonoides: rutósido.[2]

Taxonomía

Hyoscyamus niger describióse por Linneo y espublizóse en Species Plantarum, vol. 1, p. 179–180, nel añu 1753.[3]
