La farnosa[1] (Hieracium pilosella) ye una especie fanerógama perteneciente a la familia Asteraceae. Ye orixinaria d'Europa.

Hábitat

Habita en camperes, uzs, roques, murios en toa Europa.

Descripción

Ye una planta que s'estrema poles sos estolones foliosos, llongures y delgaos estendíos pel suelu, y capítulos solitarios que broten en tarmos áfilos densamente pelosos d'hasta 30 cm o más. Fueyes nuna roseta, oblanceolaes a elíptiques, enteres, estrechaes pembaxo, con pelos pálidos. Flores 1,8-2,2 cm de diámetru, flores mariellu-maciu, con rayes na superficie esterna; bráctees involucrales con pelos trupos rizaos. Especie bien variable. Floria de mayu a setiembre.

Principios activos

Contién flavonoides: heterósidos d'apigenol y luteolol, cumarines: umbeliferona presente nes sos fueyes, taníns, sustancies amargoses, resina y mucílagu.[3]

Propiedaes melecinales

Ye suduífica, tónica y expectorante. Ye un bon diuréticu, probablemente por cuenta de la aición de los flavonoides y provoca la eliminación de la urea y de cloruros. Puede utilizase en casu de insuficiencia cardiaca, en oliguria o edemes nes piernes.

Les fueyes y les flores utilizáronse en forma de fervinchos antigripales. Dellos autores señalen l'actividá antibiótica de la umbeliferona sobre microorganismos como Brucella abortus y Brucella melitensis, productores de la fiebre de Malta.[3]

Hieracium pilosella describióse por Carlos Linneo y espublizóse en Species Plantarum 2: 800. 1753.[4]

Etimoloxía

Hieracium: nome xenéricu que provién de la pallabra del griegu antiguu hierax o hierakion = "ferre". El nome del xéneru orixinalmente foi dau pol botánicu francés Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (1656 - 1708), probablemente refiriéndose a dalgunos de los escritos del naturalista romanu Pliniu'l Vieyu (23-79) nel que, según la tradición, les aves de presa utilicen esta planta pa fortalecer la so visión.[5][6] Dende'l puntu de vista científicu, el nome del xéneru foi publicáu per primer vegada por Carl von Linne (1707-1778), biólogu y escritor suecu, consideráu'l padre de la moderna clasificación científica de los organismos vivos, na publicación Species Plantarum - 2:. 799 1753[7] del 1753.[8]
