La Estrella de Babcock (GL Lacertae / GL Lac)[5] ye una estrella variable asitiada na constelación de Lacerta. De magnitú aparente media +8,85, alcuéntrase aproximao a 2300 años lluz del Sistema Solar.

La Estrella de Babcock ye una estrella peculiar de tipu espectral A0p.[5] Ta clasificada dientro del grupu de les estrelles Ap —caracterizaes por tener un campu magnéticu estelar fuerte y por rotar amodo en comparanza a otres estrelles de tipu A—, siendo Alioth (ε Ursae Majoris) y α Circini dos de los sos principales esponentes. Ello ye que la Estrella de Babcock tien el mayor campu magnéticu conocíu nuna estrella. En 1960, l'astrónomu Horace W. Babcock foi'l primeru en midir la so intensidá —34 kG—, apuntando que'l campu magnéticu variaba de forma irregular.[6] Sicasí, posteriores estudios amosaron evidencia de cierta periodicidá na variación y dexaron constatar que'l campu nun yera dipolar.[7]

La temperatura efectivo envalorada de la Estrella de Babcock ye de 14.000 K. Ye una variable del tipu Alfa2 Canum Venaticorum que'l so rellumu fluctúa 0,17 magnitúes a lo llargo del so periodu de rotación —9,49 díes—. Por ello, tamién recibe la denominación, tocantes a estrella variable, de GL Lacertae. Tien un radiu envaloráu de 4,2 radios solares y una masa entendida ente 3 y 4 mases solares.[8]
