Condiciones normales de presión y temperatura

Condiciones normales de presión y temperatura (abreviao CNPT) o presión y temperatura normales (abreviao PTN o TPN) fai referencia a los valores de presión atmosférica y temperatura que imperan nun llaboratoriu.

La IUPAC, Xunión Internacional de Química Pura y Aplicada (n'inglés: International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) define les condiciones normales como: "términu cualitativu, en función de la preferencia del investigador, qu'usualmente implica la presión ambiental y la temperatura del llugar". Preferiblemente les variables de temperatura y presión habríen ser tomaes como valores representativos de les condiciones reales (o rangu de condiciones) emplegaes nel estudiu.

El términu "Condiciones Normales" suel utilizase davezu pa la midida de volúmenes de gases en munchos campos de la ciencia, como en Termodinámica y Química, correspondiéndose a una temperatura de 0 °C (o 273,15 K) y a una presión de 1 atm. Por exemplu, el volume d'un mol de gas ideal en condiciones normales de presión y temperatura ye : PV = n RT -> V = 1×0,0821×273,15/1 =22,42  L; esto llévanos al valor clásicu: V = 22,4 L.

N'electroquímica y n'otres rames de la química nes que s'usen disoluciones aguoses, les condiciones normales correspuenden a una presión de 1 atm y una temperatura de 298,15 K (25 °C). Asina, por exemplu, defínese internacionalmente la escala de potenciales normales d'electrodu.

Nota a tener en cuenta:

Les CNPT, siguiendo los criterios de la IUPAC, nun se correspuenden a unos valores bien definíos (invariables), como ye'l casu de les condiciones estándar de presión y temperatura. Sicasí, la bibliografía científico esistente ye bien variable con respeuto a la definición de les CNPT. A esto hai qu'añader la esistencia d'otros estándares, aparte del propuestu pola IUPAC (p. ex. el del NIST). Esta situación produz incertidume y discutiniu al utilizar estos términos, mesmo dientro de la comunidá científica.
