Thanks for uploading File:Cover art of Bit Pilot, Zach Gage, 2010.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Hey! I've noticed you closed the nomination above, but it doesn't seem to be closed for a valid reason. The review was started on 20 December and you posted a single suggestion on 1 January. Then on 23 January, it was suddenly closed as fail for the nominator being inactive for 7 days. But you barely even had started reviewing the article yet. The nominator wasn't even pinged or anything. These closes should only happen when the nomination is put on hold (so after the review is done) and the nominator fails to respond in a timely manner, but they had nothing to respond to begin with. I believe this close should be clarified. Skyshiftertalk04:30, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The point isn't to ping the nominator, but rather the reason the review was failed for, as I explained above. It is invalid to close a nomination for the nominator being inactive when you haven't even finished your review. If you just wanted to stop reviewing, you could've stated so instead. Skyshiftertalk11:12, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What did you not get? I explained above: "It is invalid to close a nomination for the nominator being inactive when you haven't even finished your review." I initially thought of posting the failed nomination directly at WT:GAN, but wanted to try to resolve with you directly first. Skyshiftertalk00:07, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, and thanks for participating in this backlog drive! Just wanted to let you know that the review page is for editors to review references added by other editors. As in, a reviewer will randomly select an edit from a random editor to review, rather than you posting your edit there. The reviewed edits will then go under the reviewer's section. I've reviewed the 4 edits you posted there as an example. Feel free to ping me if you have any questions. Thanks! ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me!02:32, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.
Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:
As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk·contribs), Epicgenius (talk·contribs), and Frostly (talk·contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Infinite Craft, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.
Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions.
The article has been assessed as Stub-Class, which is recorded on its talk page. It is commonplace for new articles to start out as stubs and then attain higher grades as they develop over time. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.
Since you have made at least 10 edits over more than four days, you can now create articles yourself without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for creation if you prefer.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Beretta 9000 until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.
TrademarkedTWOrantula, I wanted to emphasize my sorrow at screwing you out of the point you deservedly earned for adding a source to the article. I PROD'd the thing with the idea that by the time the PROD expired, the month would be over and you'd have that point. Sadly, someone reverted my PROD so I had to defend my honor in that regard. I had reviewed your citation so hopefully you will be recompensated although the entry may drop from your log before then. Chris Troutman (talk)23:29, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Angels in the Infield, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page McFarland. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.
The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:
Generalissima (submissions), who has 916 points mostly from one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher), 15 GAs, and 16 DYKs on a variety of topics including New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures, in addition to seven reviews
In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.
Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. The second round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 April. This round was particularly competitive: each of the 32 contestants who advanced to Round 3 scored at least 141 points. This is the highest number of points required to advance to Round 3 since 2014.
The following scorers in Round 2 all scored more than 500 points:
BennyOnTheLoose (submissions) with 548 points, mostly from a featured article about the snooker player John Pulman, two featured lists, and one good article;
The full scores for Round 2 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 18 featured articles, 22 featured lists, and 186 good articles, 76 in the news credits and at least 200 did you know credits. They have conducted 165 featured article reviews, as well as 399 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 21 articles to featured topics and good topics.

I am going to enforce a Wikibreak, as I am about to graduate from school. My grades are (unfortunately) a little low, so I have to temporarily leave Wikipedia. Why don't you try finishing or improving one of my written articles? See y'all in about a month. Peace, TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 05:24, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, since you are on a WikiBreak due to school, you should stop trying to edit your userpage during that time! (ignore me this is a scolding) 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 04:42, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that
Hello TWOrantula,
Sorry, didn't mean to scare you off FAC reviewing! I couldn't sleep last night and was probably in a grumpy mood, so apologies if that came off as harsher than intended. More FAC reviewers is generally a good thing.
That said, my comment wasn't totally off-base. My suggestion is that if you're commenting on prose, make clear the difference between "suggestions" /"thoughts" and "this is genuinely a problem, please fix it, I will probably oppose if you ignore this." You were using commanding language like "Change" as an order, so it's going to come off as the latter by default. If what you meant was more like "Here are some alternate ways to phrase things to think about, it's up to you", then there'd have been no problem. If that's what you were thinking, I definitely recommend including a disclaimer at the top of future reviews saying that, and then making clear passages that you really think are a problem. For an example, I made such a disclaimer at my review at Talk:Sands of Destruction/GA1, and made various suggestions in my review, many of which were changed or sometimes ignored by the nominator. And it was fine! I passed it anyway. They were just suggestions, after all.
But yeah. One of the things about FAC is that it's a pretty high-stress environment for nominators. There's often times 20 different ways to phrase the same thought, all valid, and there's nothing more soul-killing than reviewers basically distrusting the nominator's own judgment & personal preference and asking it to be changed from style 4 to style 8 to style 17 and back, despite none of them really being an improvement. That's the high-minded reason to be careful with prose suggestions.
The third round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 June. As with Round 2, this round was competitive: each of the 16 contestants who advanced to Round 4 scored at least 256 points.
The following editors all scored more than 400 points in Round 3:
Sammi Brie (submissions) with 557 points, mostly from 1 featured article on KNXV-TV, 5 good articles, and 8 did you know nominations; and
AryKun (submissions) with 415 points, mostly from 1 featured article on Great cuckoo-dove, with a high number of bonus points from that article.
The full scores for round 3 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 28 featured articles, 38 featured lists, 240 good articles, 92 in the news credits, and at least 285 did you know credits. They have conducted 279 featured article reviews, as well as 492 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 22 articles to featured topics and good topics.

You have nominated two drafts for deletion. What I would like to know is whether you were reviewing drafts as a New Page Patrol reviewer, as an Articles for Creation reviewer, or in some other way. Drafts are not deleted for lack of notability. Drafts that are submitted are declined for lack of notability. Nominating drafts for deletion because of a lack of notability wastes the time of the nominator and the MFD reviewers. So what I would like to know is how to minimize the number of these well-intentioned but misguided nominations of drafts for deletion for notability. What sort of review were you doing? I am wondering whether we can provide clearer instructions about how to review and not review drafts. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:48, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
After deleting the draft page "Object show" (found here), I figured that the two pages (which I had happened to come across) happened to cover a subject that is banned from Wikipedia. I thought that these pages needed to be deleted immediately, so I said that they "weren't notable". TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 21:00, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or in the event of a tie, to the overall leader in this field.
Generalissima (submissions) wins the featured article prize for 3 FAs in round 4, and 7 FAs overall.
Muboshgu (submissions) wins the ITN prize, for 15 In the news articles in round 1, and 36 overall.
Next year's competition will begin on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to see you all in the 2025 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement!
Welcome, welcome, welcome TrademarkedTWOrantula! I'm glad that you are joining the November 2024 drive! Please, have a cup of WikiTea, and go cite some articles.
