My congratulations too on this. You got us going on this, Susun, but all the others have indeed done a great job. @Megalibrarygirl: Do you mean Kenyan singers? I looked at the others and am sorry to say I did not find enough on any of them to justify a Wikipedia article, especially after the trouble with Christine Kamau (who seemed notable as an instrumentalist). But I did come across some other lists and websites with even more interesting female African musicians. I'll check them out and suggest one or two names later. The Malouma review seems have been proceeding very well. Like his name, Jaguar is always quick to jump in and has been very supportive. You don't have to respond to my points, but it's your call on whether or not you think they improve the article, which should be the main concern. Producing decent quality GAs does require some perseverance. Thank you Rosekelleher I don't use virtual editor. What I do is pull up a bunch of sources before I start. Once I come up with 3 or 4 sources, I start evaluating them. I run organizations they are tied to, in conjunction with names they are associated with. So for Black Cross Nursing, I ran the search as Black Cross Nurse, Vivian Seay; Black Cross Nurse, Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League; Black Cross Nurse, Canada; etc. I run women's names with their maiden name and married names, if applicable. Usually that yields a few more sources. Then I read through them to see if I have covered the lifespan of a person without a lot of gaps, or if I have sufficient information to cover the topic. If not, I just keep working different combinations of searches until I have all the sourcing. Then I set up the page with the userbox, categories, authority control, ref lists and just start data synthesizing. I go through one source at a time and glean everything I can from it and then work information from the next source in. I usually end up with at least 10 tabs open all at the same time (so I can compare them easily) but try to focus on working in the data from only one at a time. If I get bogged down, I let it set for a day or so and come back with fresh eyes. I always create them in draft space and then move them to mainspace. For me, the key is prepping first. It also helps if you write articles that are linked so that you have sources already researched. Note that this one started (Black Cross Nurses) months ago--in my head. I wrote Cleopatra White and Elfreda Reyes September, which gave me a lot of the background. I find a lot of organizations linked notable women and by following the women or the organizations, I end up with several articles. ReFill works on raw urls between ref tags. It won't get them all, but it gets the basic template inserted and will catch identical refs, for example, I used it today here. Zigzig20s How you got by without it is a mystery to me. I use tools. Pick an article to review and click on the review or comment box. There will be instructions at the top as well as symbols for marking whether it is GTG, GTG but hook citation is AGF, there are questions, it doesn't qualify at all, etc.

• New enough is easy, just look at the history and see if it was created in mainspace (time in draft does not count) or expanded/approved for GA within 7 days of nomination.
• Long enough. I use a tool. Instructions to install it are simple (I am NOT remotely technical, so if I could manage, I think probably anyone can do it). See Wikipedia:Did you know/DYKcheck#Using DYKcheck if you have a username If it requires 5x or 2x expansion, go to the history and pull up the historic article made just prior to the expansion. Run the character counter. Pull up the current article, run the character counter. Do the math and see if it meets the reqirement.
• No copyvios. I use a tool [7]. Sometimes even if the probability is high there aren't really any violations, so be sure you evaluate the comparisons. Obviously the tool picks up all commonalities, but that means names, titles, etc. are flagged, which clearly aren't plagerisms. It does not work for books or pdfs, so you manually have to review them.
• Neutral Just confirm has no POV.
• In-line citations must be observed for at least every paragraph except the lede.
• Images must be verified as free to use on commons.
• Hook length I verify here [8] Must be under 200 characters. The words (pictured) (as pictured) (shown), etc do not count, nor do coding marks.
• Hook citation does not have to be in a single sentence but each part of the hook must be verified by a citation immediately following the statement made. (It is not good enough to be at the end of the paragraph).
• QPQ check I use [9] Just type in the username and hit enter.
• Interesting is purely subjective IMO.
• Mark it with a symbol. Comment on each of the above, sign your entry BEFORE you save it if there are things that need to be addressed scroll up and copy the template marked "You may notify the nominator of problems with" Save. Make sure you have it watchlisted.

My best suggestion is to contact the Virgin Islands Public Library system; the archives online all seem to be microfilm, which isn't veryhelpful, but librarians usually can at least point you to things.

Based on my experience, sometimes some of the finest details have to come from a primary source. If it is used sparingly and supported by a wealth of reliable sources this is perfectly fine. For things like Business executives I don't know what the "rules" formally are but some of the resume type sites like LinkedIn can often provide a good career backbone and then built on with reliable independent sources. The whole point is quality of information, accuracy and comprehension, and it so so happens that often people themselves are the best source of information about themselves. I think we need to relax a bit more in certain areas on here. I don't know what the current outlook is but I think you can get away with using the person's self published website as a source, provided that the article is well sourced to independent sources throughout. Also primary sources have greater strengths for things like career chronology and perosnal details, but can't really be trusted for documenting things like career achievements and gushing media comments so it depends on the case. The problem I think is more when an entire article is written by a primary source and no demonstration of notability in independent sources. Dr. Blofeld I rarely use personal websites other than to mine them for information. I do use birth records, death records and census records as often they are the only sources that can piece together a woman's history. You'd be amazed at how many people take them out for being primary sources. As if a birth record is "original research" or somehow tainted. It's pretty straight forward born where, when, to whom. Not a lot of interpretation of data going on there. But even so, if they are backed up with multiple secondary sources confirming the year, it is to me a no–brainer. I think for some of the biographies you tackle you'll often find decent info on their own websites and find less detail in independent sources. Don't worry. I just thought the first woman to have received a ministerial position would have been more widely covered, even in English. But the article is not too bad as it is. In fact I used the funeral notice in connection with her original name. Yes, there's a lot of small Caribbean nations which do tend to get neglected on here. You don't often see "St Kittian" biographies appearing in the new pages for instance! I remember I did a lot of work on Barbados in the early days on here as I have a book and I was astounded how much was missing, even some of the more obvious ones. Yoninah It's not that I lack confidence in the writing, but more that a trusted editor can make it better. When I am writing, I may have read the material so many times that I think I am communicating with the reader, when in actuality, I've left a crucial piece out because I assumed everyone would know it. I'm happy to help, but I think that the reviewers over at GA also look at articles with a pretty critical eye, and will tell you what's missing or misstated. Personally, I find the GA experience rather stressful.
