I seemed to have been blocked from editing anything for 7 months, and noticed that it was because of something about a Dog and Rapper vandal. I looked into it, and not only was I not a part of any of that but it said it was from users living in Pennsylvania. I live in California which is extremely far from the state of Pennsylvania. If you disagree with this, I formally demand any proof you have showing it was me taking part in whatever was going on with that Dog and Rapper business.
Unfortunately the block affects the entire US because that's the only way to effectively reduce the vandalism. Sorry about that. Graham8701:08, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
Graham87, I was not so much familiar with the English-Wikipedia's Manual of Style before, so I agree with your revert now, but I still don't agree with your labeling such edits as vandalism. As I checked, this part of Manual (opening brackets and lead) are subject of permanent discussion and changes. Moreover, in many other paper encyclopedias, and particularly in Czech-wiki, it is quite usual to put the birth and death places together with birth and death dates. And there are still many biographic articles in en-Wiki created in this in this manner. It is NOT a matter of vandalism, but the power of habit! So please, next time (because as I mentioned, there are still lot of articles with b.-d. places in opening brackets) do not label your edit as the crusade against vandalism but instead of this appeal directly to the English-Wikipedia's Manual of Style as you did in your second edit. This will work much better. --Honzula (talk) 05:05, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

hmm you get some strange stuff - this should be more obvious or should I offer it to someone else? [1] = whole field asking to be exterminated - COI, Username, and SPA
Interesting - in Buenos Aires the word of your recent edit comes over specifically as cashhaow there because of the Italian influence on their vocab - JarrahTree04:50, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
I read the guideline you pointed to. It says "Ethnicity, religion, or sexuality should generally not be in the lead unless it is relevant to the subject's notability." Do you think Jim Thorpe's ethnicity is not relevant to his notability? Did you actually read the article? The rest of what you reverted is equally ill considered apart from "whom" and "to compete". Just a heads up that the Amanda Reid article might see some more heat in the near future, due to this BBC article and a BBC Radio 4 programme being aired tonight. I see the BBC piece has already made it into the article. Cheers, Gricehead (talk) 15:59, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

If we do close this as "move history (to talk namespace)", would you be able to perform the move? I don't know what the prevalent naming convention for this kind of history move is. Deryck C.15:39, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
Nobody has commented after your suggestion so I've closed the discussion as "move history". Would you be able to do that please? Deryck C.12:33, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
I know that you were dealing with a problematic editor but even a broken clock is right twice a day. You reverted the rockabilly genre, but that genre is 100% correct for this song, this performance and this performer. It is not only referenced in the article, but the article contains a referenced quote from a critic calling it rockabilly. Please be more careful. Disclosure: I am the original author of the article. I was originally unaware and thought hmm...since we don't want to just focus on California (where I physically am), I should probably take out those California-specific edits but I did not realize the importance of keeping everything OTR. Thanks so much! I will definitely re-edit the talk section by adding another statement
Hello, Graham87. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
Just today I read "From this a rising syncopated figure emerges, taken up later on by the altos as they lead off with their funky 'alleluia' figure and adopted by all the other singers. If anyone in the posh world of classical music ever doubted that JS Bach could also be considered the father of jazz, here is the proof." (Gardiner) here ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:21, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: Wow, how apt! In fact, the Modern Jazz Quartet did record a transcription of the 4th movement of BWV 140 as "Rise Up in the Morning"on Blues on Bach (1973). As for GA, thanks very much for the high praise. My best answer to your question is meh ... I don't like actively seeking out recognition for content I write, but I won't resist if it's given to me and I'll take on board any feedback I receive. I'm a little sick of the article right now to be honest ... somebody who can get their work distributed by a respectable publisher really needs to make a book-length writeup of the Quartet, using archived newspaper/magazine resources from its heyday, most of which haven't been digitised ... that would have made writing the page an awful lot easier. But I'd probably feel better about it once the GA review actually rolled around. Graham8702:01, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
Thank you ;) - I don't see GA as recognition seeking, just think it's that standard already, without more work. More expansion would be for FA which I think would also be possible. I'd like to see this topic, among the many songs and mushrooms. Nothing wrong with songs and mushrooms, of course. - With a GA label, it could go to DYK, which I think is a good tool. I just won 4k+ readers for an actor who recently died and had no article yet, and 700+ for a play that was not even mentioned bold. I bet that many of these would never have looked up these topics. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:24, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: Ah; do you mean the Notes inégales in the fifth movement? I initially misunderstood your message and didn't realise which movement you were referring to, so I'm listening to the whole cantata ... no complaints here though! Not Bach, but I trust you've heard this example of proto-jazz in classical music? Graham8714:29, 8 December 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, I was sloppy, meant Part V of the Christmas Oratorio, opening movement, with syncopes all over the place, and the conductor said it's the best choral movement in the whole oratorio. Will sing Parts 1-III today in one group, iV-VI in another. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:45, 8 December 2018 (UTC)
@Dicklyon: It doesn't make any difference. I can't tell by default what is capitalised and what isn't, except by reviewing character-by-character. Graham8703:08, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Someone made a wikipedia page about me that was based on an article in the New York Times that was in a section of the paper called "character study" that creates stories of fiction that are mostly inaccurate. Since obviously I know my own life I simply added other articles that are accurate and corrected items that were simply false. People continued to take down articles in Jewish Week and the Taipei Times and I put them back. That was the reason the page needed to come down. Mambojazz1 (talk) 10:50, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

Hello Graham87, you recently deleted by page, please note I am not Oliver Bell (Karate Athlete) nor am I anything but a friend. If you had read the page you would have seen it was extremely un biased and only based off publicly known information. A more detailed response would be kind of you as I put a lot of time into that, I chose my account name because I thought it would show with the page and that was my only page of interest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OliverBellKarate (talk • contribs) 14:47, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
Script blocking
Because scripts can't be blocked, I figured the blockers hadn't been paying attention, but since you have good reason, that's perfectly fine. PS, now that I read your analysis of the situation I raised two years ago, I see what you mean; I don't remember the incident (except for the block :-) but your explanation is easily understood. Merry Xmas
Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2019!
Hello Graham87, may you be surrounded by peace, success and happiness on this seasonal occasion. Spread the WikiLove by wishing another user a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. Sending you heartfelt and warm greetings for Christmas and New Year 2019. Happy editing, Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 06:16, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
Happy new year! Very recently, on 29th December, you removed all the citation-needed tags from On Certainty.
At the time, the entire article consisted of just seven lead sentences and no subsequent sections. Six of the seven had been tagged as needing citation, which is admittedly excessive. But WP:LEADCITE states clearly that "there is not, however, an exception to citation requirements specific to leads". WP:CITE explains:
"Citations are often omitted from the lead section of an article, insofar as the lead summarizes information for which sources are given later in the article, although quotations and controversial statements, particularly if about living persons, should be supported by citations even in the lead."
Since there were no subsequent sections and the more exegetical claims were (and are) dubious or doubtful, the tags were basically correct. I have since expanded the article a bit and added one section, but some remain justified and I am about to replace them until I can substantiate every claim made. Probably the article talk page would be the best place to discuss this further if you so wish. Otherwise, have a great 2019. -Soap 89.240.129.155 (talk) 17:56, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
Blocked from editing?
I noticed if I use mobile data I'm not allowed to edit due to "dog and vandal"? What does that even mean? IDK what I even did. 😑 DoctorMemeMD (talk) 20:53, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you! Please check out "Happy" once more, for a smile, and sharing (a Nobel Peace Prize), and resolutions. I wanted that for 1 January, but then wasn't sad about having our music pictured instead. Not too late for resolutions, New Year or not. DYK that he probably kept me on Wikipedia, back in 2012? By the line (which brought him to my attention, and earned the first precious in br'erly style) that I added to my editnotice, in fond memory? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:30, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi Graham... wow, you have contributed some amazing stuff to Wikipedia!
I was wondering if you would be interested in creating my page for me? I am an actor and producer. Most recently I produced the Netflix Original film XOXO.
I have lots of references and am even mentioned on the XOXO film wikipedia page under both the "producer" and "actor" sections.

Hello, Graham87. Your recent revision to an edit I made on How to Win Friends and Influence People has gotten me thinking. How does one get started on Wikipedia in making beneficial edits to pages? Thanks (by the way, this is my first post in any talk page on here) Fervent Servant (talk) 21:08, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
Aren't you engaging in overkill just a little? I ran into this when trying to update an obscure article on a county in New Mexico, unlikely to be touched by anyone in the next year or two. And yet, it will double in population because of changes in oil lease rules, certainly notable.
And people wonder why we are losing editors. I am on the other side of the country from the people who engaged in the behavior you objected to and I'm a well-respected wikignome. Fortunately I saved my password on my laptop but I urge you, pal, to weigh whether it is better to have the occasional contentious edit or to discourage a massive number of people from improving the encyclopedia. I am fairly annoyed at not even being able to protest the ban because I wasn't signed in.... yes, I know mobile users are problematic. I have done some work in that feed. But it is also the primary access to the internet for gajillions of people, and bear in mind that some of us are really bad at remembering passwords. What should have been a fast improvement has become a whole ordeal. I urge you to avoid using cannon on midges in future. Now I have to change my password before I can edit on my phone. And the update still isnt done Elinruby (talk) 23:12, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
