Hi, Parthian Shot. I'm wondering what your objection is to al-Tabari's account of Babak riding to his execution on an elephant and why you say he was betrayed by al-Afshin when al-Afshin was the prominent Abbasid general who defeated Babak? Best Wishes Gallador 18:13, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Galador - He was betrayed by Afshin, since both were Iranians, and were fighting for a common cause, i.e. to end the Arab rule in Iran. I believe most comprehensive article about Babak, has been written by Professor Gh. H. Yousefi, for Encyclopaedia Iranica link (and choose the entry B, number: 2060: BĀBAK KHORRAMĪ) that can answer to your question properly. Hi, Parthian Shot. Thanks. I'll give that a read. I think to make it clear it would be better to put a sentence such as, "Nationalists consider al-Afshin was betraying his Iranian roots by opposing Babak," right after mentioning him leading forces against Babak. Have you read the material that comes later in at Tabari about Afshin's intriguing with Mazyar and other allegations made against Afshin after his arrest in 840? Hi Gallador, if we go head with what you are suggesting, it means that Afshin's actions considered as an act betrayal by nationalist-Iranian only, which is incorrect. Afshin was in fact a nationalist, but his approach and method of his revolt against the Arab rule was deceptive, which has cost the life of his compatriots as well as his own. Though many scholars claim that he was a self-centred character who cared for himself and himself only. Also I have removed Al- from front of his name and other Iranians mentioned in the article such as Tabari, since it is considered derogatory term for Iranians, since he was not an Arab. Please note, that there are two importance assessments for each Africa Project tag: Africa Project importance and Country project importance. For instance: the Talk:Termit_Massif has a Low importance to Africa Project but High importance to Wikipedia:WikiProject_Niger These will likely be different: that is not only OK, it is helpful to the nation projects ability prioritise. Thanks for the response! You are correct: the nation specific importance tags (like "Central Africa Republic-importance=Mid") don't display on the talk page, but you'll see the talk page is placed in a Category. For instance Category:High-importance Central African Republic articles. These can then be read in a number of automated ways, such as the assessment chart in Wikipedia:WikiProject Central African Republic#Recognized content. A good example of this is Talk:People's_Army_for_the_Restoration_of_Democracy_(CAR). It has no Africa Project Importance or Quality assessment, so no importance tag is visible, but there IS a "Central African Republic-importance=High", placing it in Category:High-importance Central African Republic articles, and visible in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Central African Republic#Recognized content chart as a article which we consider high importance, but is not yet assessed for quality. It is also very much less important to the Africa Project as a whole, so we wouldn't want to mark it as High importance to AfricaProject!

Well, thanks, I might change some ratings, the bar is set a little low if the stock exchange is rated low importance; if one considers "Zambia's biggest beef provider" (Zambeef) as at least a mid-importance article, then the Lusaka stock exchange itself should be of a similar or greater rank. In working with corporate articles in Africa, Vietnam or India, one compares to work being done in corporate articles of the UK and USA, and one finds that there is a preponderance of corporate articles of the UK and USA, and a dearth of corporate articles of Africa. In this context it can be seen that the corporate articles of the UK and USA are approaching "completeness of coverage" in some areas, while those of Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia consist of "only the important obvious companies". If, in the UK and US area, an article like James W. Owens (current Caterpillar CEO, ex-IBM director) has received a "low" rating, then perhaps there are a lot of unwritten articles about ex-Ecobank directors who will someday have short biographical articles that have a low ranking, while the article about their company would have a top ranking viz Talk:Caterpillar Inc.. Giving African stock exchanges a low importance rating skews the entire scale of WikiProject Business, if the stock excange is low importance, then in comparison, is the article about a company brand or about the director of the stock exchange of ultra-low or non- importance? Would it be of negative importance? ..... All of which would put developing economies at a disadvantage to established economies, wikiwise. I created all of those articles as Dr. Blofeld so I obviously agree with you they are all notable. The reason why I redirected was lack of current info to expand them into fuller articles. All of them were generic stubs with nothing presented in them that wasn't already said on the main political party page. User:Everyking also agrees with this. If you want to write about anyone of the politicians and add more info than previously be all means restart the article. But there is no point in having 200 empty stubs. Remember that as Dr. Blofeld I created thousands of stubs on African topics like Category:Mali subdivision templates communes of Mali, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Mauritania etc. Districts of Central African Republic, airports etc because I believe they can be expanded. I also made many flickr agreements to illustrate places like Parakou in Benin, Togo i etc and started loads of articles like Zangbeto. So I do believe in expanding our coverage of African but when the info that currently is available on the web is zlich and cannot be expanded in the current situation they are pointless at present if they contain no real info. Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing, whether it's a river in Malawi, a Nigerian footballer, or a South African civil rights activist, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section.
