Sri Lankan politician
Susil Ranasinghe is a Sri Lankan politician and medical doctor who serves as a Member of Parliament for the Anuradhapura Electoral District since November 2024. He was elected during the 2024 Sri Lankan parliamentary election, receiving 72,508 preferential votes.[1] He is affiliated with the National People's Power political coalition.
Education
Susil Ranasinghe completed his secondary education at Galenbindunuwewa Central College. He later pursued higher studies at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, where he graduated with a medical degree in 2004.
Medical Career
Ranasinghe has been practicing medicine in Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura, DBH Dambulla, and Prison Hospital Anuradhapura. His medical experience has contributed significantly to community health and public service in the region, providing essential medical care and promoting health initiatives.
Political Career
Ranasinghe's transition to politics came in 2024 when he successfully ran for office in the 17th Parliament of Sri Lanka. His campaign was centered on health policy reform, public health advocacy, and community development within the Anuradhapura District.
