This is a list of seasons played by FC Dallas in North American soccer competitions from 1996, when the club was formed as the Dallas Burn , to the most recent completed season. It details the club's achievements in all major competitions.[ 1]
The club was formed as Dallas Burn as a founding member of Major League Soccer on June 6, 1995.[ 2] On April 14, 1996, the Dallas Burn played their first ever game at the Cotton Bowl versus the San Jose Clash . The Burn were victorious in the game, winning the game in a penalty shoot-out following a 0–0 tie in regulation, in front of 27,779 fans. On August 12, 2004, the organization officially changed the club's name to FC Dallas.[ 3] In its first 25 seasons of play, the team has made the playoffs 18 times (72% qualification record).
