Koffiefonteinmyn is 'n diamantmyn geleë in die Vrystaat, ongeveer 80 km van Kimberley, Suid-Afrika. Dit is een van baie Kimberleymyne. Kimberleymyn, De Beersmyn, Dutoitspan, Bultfontein en Wesselton is van sy meer bekende bure.

Die myn is in 1870 geopen en het uit 1200 kleims bestaan. Daar is op 'n groot skaal gewerk aan die begin van die eeu. Verskeie bronne haal egter aan dat dit 'n swak opbrengs: 4 tot 5 karaat (800 tot 1000 mg) in 100 vragte gelewer het [1] en volgens Streeter was die myn glad nie winsgewend teen die einde van die 19de eeu nie.[2] Streeter het ook opgemerk dat veral die diamante van Koffiefontein en Jagersfontein van die "eerste water" was; wat beteken dat dit baie helder is.

Daar was min op die oppervlak om die posisie van hierdie neerslae te merk, sommige neerslae was effens verhewe bo die oppervlak, sommige het 'n klein insinking, en dit was eers na mynbou begin dat die omvang van die deposito's duidelik geword het. [3]

Die myn is verskeie kere gesluit in sy geskiedenis en het nooit 'n groot produksieterrein geword nie. Die totale produksie van die myn was 7,3 miljoen karaat (1460 kg), en die grootste steen het 139 karaat (27,8 g) geweeg. Die myn is onlangs heropen in 1987 maar De Beers het in Januarie 2006 sy finale sluiting aangekondig. [4]

In November 2006 het Petra aangekondig dat dit in gevorderde gesprekke met De Beers  was om die myn oor te neem [5] en teen Julie 2007 het hulle eienaarskap bekom met aandeelhouding van 76%. Die ander twee aandeelhouers is: Kago Diamonds (Eiendoms) Bpk en Itumeleng Petra Diamonds Employee Trust. [6]
