Yamato nadeshiko

Yamato Nadeshiko (大和撫子) adalah istilah bahasa Jepang yang mempunyai arti "personifikasi dari perempuan Jepang yang ideal", "ideal" delam konteks sejarah patriark, Budaya Jepang tradisional. Bunga ini memetaforakan, dikombinasikan dengan nama kuno Jepang Yamato dan nadeshiko "Dianthus superbus, secara literatur diterjemahkan sebagai " Dianthus Jepang".

Kamus Kenkyūsha's New Japanese-English Dictionary (5th edition, 2003) menerjemahkan Yamato-nadeshiko sebagai: "seorang Wanita Jepang (dengan berbagai karunia tradisionalnya); seorang wanita Jepang yang ideal." Daijirin (3rd ed., 2006) mendefinisikannya sebagai: "1 ナデシコの別名。2 日本女性の清楚な美しさをほめていう語。", "1. nama lain dari Dianthus superbus. 2. Sebuah kiasan untuk kecantikan wanita Jepang yang rapi dan rajin."

Juga dikenal sebagai wanita Jepang yang ideal menurut Konfusius, berkisar wanita yang bertindak untuk kepentingan keluarga dan mengikuti instruksi atau bertindak sesuai keinginan figur otoritar patriarkis. Kebajikan wanita Jepang mencakup loyalitas, kemampuan mengatur rumah tangga.

Saat Perang Dunia II, ide dari Yamato Nadeshiko dipengaruhi propaganda saat perang, seorang Yamato Nadeshiko harus mampu menghadapi penderitaan dan kemiskinan hidup demi suaminya (yang maju berperang) dan negara, dan mereka harus selalu siap berperang bersama naginata atau mengambil yari dan siap mati kapan saja, demi negaranya atau untuk menjaga kesucian tubuhnya (jika Jepang kalah perang dan mereka menjadi tahanan perang), hampir mirip dengan bushido. Tetapi, bersebrangan dengan karakteristik feminim, gyokusai, atau "banzai" mati terhormat dalam perang diharapkan oleh semua rakyat Jepang, agar mereka diakui sebagai warga negara Jepang.

Saat ini, dalam hampir semua konteks, istilah "Yamato nadeshiko" digunakan untuk konteks nostalgia, merujuk pada wanita jepang dengan "watak kuno yang baik", yang saat ini sudah semakinlangka.[1]
