The Killer (Hanzi tradisional: 喋血雙雄; Hanzi: Diéxuè shuāngxióng[2]) adalah sebuah film aksi-kriminal-thriller tahun 1989, disutradarai dan ditulis oleh John Woo. Film ini dikenal untuk pemeran-pemerannya yang merupakan aktor-aktor bintang Tionghoa: Chow Yun-Fat, Danny Lee, Sally Yeh, dan masih banyak lagi. Chow memainkan pembunuh Ah Jong, yang secara tidak sengaja merusak mata penyanyi Jennie (Sally Yeh) selama baku tembak. Dia kemudian menemukan bahwa jika Jennie tidak mempunyai operasi mahal segera, ia akan menjadi buta. Untuk mendapatkan uang untuk Jennie, Ah Jong memutuskan untuk melakukan satu pukulan terakhir. Sementara itu, polisi detektif Li (Danny Lee) yang telah pelacakan Ah Jong untuk waktu lama, bertekad untuk membawanya ke pengadilan.

Setelah dukungan keuangan dari Tsui Hark menjadi problematis setelah rilis di film Woo A Better Tomorrow 2, Woo harus mencari dukungan melalui Chow Yun Fat dan perusahaan pembiayaan Danny Lee. Woo pergi ke film The Killer dengan konsep kasar yang plot dipengaruhi oleh film-film Le Samouraï, Mean Streets, dan Narazumono. Woo diinginkan untuk membuat film tentang kehormatan, persahabatan dan hubungan di dua orang yang sepertinya berlawanan. Setelah menyelesaikan syuting, Woo disebut The Killer sebagai penghormatan kepada sutradara Jean-Pierre Melville dan Martin Scorsese.

The Killer tidak langsung sukses di Hong Kong, tetapi menerima pujian kritis di dunia Barat dengan tinjauan memuji adegan aksi dan gaya over-the-top. Film ini menjadi batu loncatan Woo untuk membuat film Hollywood dan telah menjadi pengaruh kuat pada banyak sutradara film, termasuk Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez dan Johnnie To.
