Sirap bandung, atau air bandung adalah minuman yang populer di Asia Tenggara terutama di Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapura, dan Brunei. Minuman ini dibuat dengan melakukan pencampuran antara susu kental manis dan sirup mawar yang memberikan warna merah muda. Walaupun tidak ada catatan pasti, minuman ini dipercayai sebagai hasil adaptasi dari minuman susu mawar yang disajikan di India.[4]. Di Indonesia, minuman ini lebih dikenali dengan istilah "soda gembira" ataupun "pink lava" yang dipopulerkan oleh Richeese Factory [5]

Istilah

Dalam Kamus Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (Malaysia), istilah "bandung" memiliki arti "pasang(couple/pair)" , "kembar(twin)" atau "perpaduan(combine)" , "gabung(join)" dan "campur(mix)". Dalam artian yang lebih luas, bandung merujuk kepada sesuatu yang bercampur dengan bahan-bahan lain atau berpasangan, seperti istilah "rumah berbandung" untuk merujuk kepada rumah berkembar, atau "Mi Bandung" yang merujuk kepada hidangan mie yang dicampur dengan berbagai bahan.

Penamaan "bandung" pada sirap bandung tidak ada kaitan dengan kota Bandung di Indonesia.

Rincian

Minuman ini biasanya disajikan oleh rakyat Melayu Johor atau Melayu Muar pada saat hari kelahiran Nabi Muhammad (Maulidur Rasul) berbuka puasa di bulan Ramadhan atau resepsi pernikahan dengan makanan pendamping seperti nasi biryani atau nasi minyak, nasi hujan panas, nasi beringin dan dihidangkan dengan lauk ayam kuzi, ayam masak merah, kerutuk daging atau rendang.[6]
