Rasa (estetika)

Dalam estetika India, sebuah rasa (Sanskerta: रसcode: sa is deprecated ) secara harfiah berarti "jus, esensi atau cita rasa".^[1]^[2] Istilah tersebut mengonotasikan sebuah konsep dalam seni India mengenai selera estetika dari setiap karya visual, sastra atau musik yang membangkitkan emosi atau perasaan pada pembaca atau penonton tetapi tidak dapat dijelaskan.^[2] Sementara dalam bahasa Yunani, estetika (aestetics) berasal dari kata aisitanesthai yang berearti "untuk dirasakan" (to perceive), dan aistheta yang berarti "hal yang terlihat".^[3]

Estetika Menurut Arthur Schopenhauer

Seorang filsuf, Arthur Schopenhauer memperkenalkan gagasan tentang kehendak metafisik yang menjadi dasar bagi estetikanya. Menurutnya, kehidupan dan semua yang ada di dunia ini bermakna melalui kehendak tersebut. Schopenhauer membuat karyanya yang terkenal berjudul, "The World as Will and Representation" atau "Dunia sebagai Kehendak dan Representasi".^[3]

Pada karyanya tersebut ia menyatakan bahwa dunia ini didominasi oleh keinginan yang menyakitkan, kecuali jika manusia sepenuhnya terlibat dalam dunia sebagai representasi. Melalui kontemplasi seni, manusia bisa sementara lepas dari penderitaan yang disebabkan oleh keinginan, karena pada dasasrnya manusia menjadi pengamat yang tanpa keinginan dari dunia ini. Menurutnya juga seni mampu memberikan pemahaman yang penting tentang objek dunia dengan cara yang unik.^[3]

Dalam kacamata Schopenhauer, ia menggambarkan pengalaman estetetis sebagai perenungan objek estetika di mana manusia sementara lepas dari konflik keinginan dan objek tersebut menjadi sumber kesenangan spiritual murni.^[3]
