Pueraria adalah genus dari sekitar 15-20[1] spesies tanaman yang berasal dari Asia.

Genusnya bersifat polifilik dengan berbagai spesies terkait yang ada di Glycine (termasuk kedelai), Amphicarpaea, Nogra, Teyleria, Neonotonia, Pseudovigna, Pseudeminia, Pachyrhizus (meliputi Pachyrhizus erosus) dan genera lain dari suku Phaseoleae,[2] yang paling terkenal adalah kudzu yang sering disebut "garut Jepang".[3][4]

Spesies

Lima spesies berikut ini terkait erat dan nama kudzu menunjukkan satu atau lebih dari mereka. Perbedaan morfologis antara lima (5) spesies ini sangat tipis sehingga mereka dapat berkembang biak satu sama lain dan tampaknya populasi kudzu yang "diperkenalkan" di Amerika Serikat memiliki keturunan lebih dari satu spesies.[5][6]
