Partai Buruh Indonesia adalah partai politik yang pernah ada di Indonesia.

Front Buruh Indonesia

Partai ini didirikan sebagai serikat buruh nasional pusat, Barisan Buruh Indonesia, BBI, pada tanggal 15 September 1945. Pada Kongres BBI pada tanggal 9 November 1945, BBI berubah menjadi sebuah partai politik dan mengadopsi nama PBI.[1][2]

Sebagai partai politik

Awalnya PBI dijalankan oleh orang-orang yang pernah bekerja di Departemen Tenaga Kerja selama pendudukan Jepang. Tapi pada tahun 1946 Setiadjit kembali ke Indonesia dari pengasingan di Belanda, dan ia memegang kepemimpinan partai dan menjadi ketuanya.

Sayap wanita

Barisan Buruh Wanita (BBW) adalah sayap perempuan dari partai ini. BBW dipimpin oleh S.K. Trimurti (Menteri Tenaga Kerja pertama Indonesia, melayani di kabinet Amir Sjarifuddin 1947-1948), yang juga anggota dari Eksekutif PBI.[3][4]
