Paralimpiade Musim Panas 1976 (bahasa Prancis: Jeux paralympiques d'été de 1976), adalah ajang Paralimpiade kelima yang diselenggarakan. Ajang ini digelar di Toronto, Ontario, Kanada, dari tanggal 3 sampai 11 Agustus 1976, pertama kalinya diselenggarakan di benua Amerika dan Kanada. Ajang ini dimulai tiga hari setelah penutupan Olimpiade Musim Panas 1976 di Montreal.

Cabang olahraga

Pada Paralimpiade ini, atlet yang diamputasi dan memiliki gangguan penglihatan berkompetisi untuk pertama kalinya. Pada Paralimpiade sebelumnya, hanya atlet berkursi roda yang diperbolehkan bertanding. Dalam cabang atletik, balap kursi roda nomor 200 m, 400 m, 800 m dan 1500 m ditambahkan. Cabang menembak dan bola gawang disertakan sebagai cabang olahraga resmi.[1]

Negara peserta

Empat puluh satu negara berpartisipasi pada ajang ini. Burma, Kolombia, Ekuador, Yunani, Guatemala, Indonesia, dan Luxembourg berpartisipasi untuk pertama kalinya.[2] Afrika Selatan dilarang berpartisipasi karena kebijakan apartheid mereka.[3][4]
