Padang Gantiang adalah nagari yang berada di Kecamatan Padang Ganting, Kabupaten Tanah Datar, Provinsi Sumatera Barat, Indonesia. Setelah berkembangnya Islam di nagari ini, berikutnya nagari ini juga membawa perubahan dalam sistem pemerintahan di Kerajaan Pagaruyung, di mana dalam Tambo disebutkan di nagari ini berkedudukan salah seorang dari Basa Ampek Balai (Empat Menteri Utama) yaitu yang dikenal dengan Tuan Kadhi di Padang Ganting yang mengeser kedudukan Tuan Gadang di Batipuh.[1]
Sebagian besar mata pencarian penduduk di Nagari Padang Gantiang adalah bekerja sebagai petani, dengan bercocok tanam di sawah maupun mengolah ladang. Selain menanam padi, masyarakat juga menanam cabe, kacang dan jagung. Masyarakat di nagari ini juga menanam kelapa, karet dan limau kapas. Dan sebagian kecil penduduk ada yang berdagang maupun menjadi pegawai baik di pemerintahan maupun swasta.
