Mokusatsu

Mokusatsu (黙殺) adalah sebuah kata benda Bahasa Jepang yang secara harfiah berarti "membunuh dengan diam-diam", dan digunakan dengan penanda verba yang secara idiom berarti "mengabaikan", "tidak mengindahkan" atau "memperlakukan dengan penghinaan diam-diam".[1][2][3][4][5] Kata ini terdiri dari dua aksara kanji: 黙 (moku "diam"; "sunyi") dan 殺 (satsu "membunuh").

Penggunaan

Meskipun merupakan suatu kata yang berasal dari Jepang, Mokusatsu juga dimengerti di dunia Barat ketika digunakan dalam hubungannya dengan Deklarasi Potsdam.

Pemerintah Jepang menggunakan istilah ini sebagai respon terhadap tuntutan Sekutu dalam Deklarasi Potsdam untuk penyerahan tanpa syarat dalam Perang Dunia II, yang menyebabkan keputusan Presiden Harry S. Truman untuk melaksanakan pengeboman atom Hiroshima dan Nagasaki.[6]
