Sebuah lelucon bergulir, atau lelucon berjalan (bahasa Inggris: running gag), adalah bagian dalam sastra yang berbentuk lelucon lucu atau referensi lucu dan muncul berulang kali di seluruh karya sastra atau bentuk lain dari mendongeng. Meskipun serupa, semboyan (catchphrase) tidak dianggap lelucon.[1][2]

Laga lelucon dapat dimulai dengan contoh humor yang tidak disengaja yang diulang dalam variasi saat lelucon menjadi akrab dan penonton mengantisipasi kemunculan kembali lelucon tersebut. Humor dalam lelucon mungkin sepenuhnya berasal dari seberapa sering itu diulang, tetapi pernyataan atau situasi yang mendasarinya akan selalu berupa lelucon. Pernyataan sepele tidak akan menjadi lelucon hanya dengan diulang-ulang. Sebuah lelucon juga dapat memperoleh humornya dari (dalam) kesesuaian situasi di mana ia terjadi, atau dengan mengatur penonton untuk mengharapkan kemunculan lelucon lain dan kemudian menggantinya dengan sesuatu yang lain (umpan dan beralih). Lelucon bergulir ditemukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, teater langsung, komedi langsung, acara televisi, video game, film, buku, komik, dan kemungkinan situasi lain di mana humor dimungkinkan dan ada cukup waktu untuk pengulangan terjadi.

Sebuah lelucon dapat berupa verbal atau visual dan dapat "menyampaikan nilai-nilai sosial dengan menggemakan pembicara yang berperang dengan rentetan ancaman karikatur".[3] Sebagai contoh, seorang karakter dapat memberikan proposisi yang sangat konyol atau keterlaluan kepada orang lain sehingga cenderung mengejek diri sendiri sampai pada titik di mana permintaan asli memiliki sedikit atau tidak ada peluang untuk benar-benar dilaksanakan dan menghasilkan efek lucu.[3]

  • Mr. Bean yang selalu berupaya untuk 'menyingkirkan' mobil roda tiga Reliant Regal Supervan III.
  • Telinga Brock yang selalu dijewer oleh teman seperjalanannya dan termasuk juga oleh Pokémon yang ia miliki.
  • Velma Dinkley yang panik tidak bisa melihat dan hanya mampu meraba-raba saat ia kehilangan kacamatanya.
  • Jaws yang selalu sial tersungkur menabrak apapun setiap kali ia gagal dalam mengalahkan James Bond.
