Kuwuk atau keong kuwuk atau keong buli adalah nama umum untuk sekelompok siput laut kecil hingga besar, moluska gastropoda laut dalam keluarga Cypraeidae.

Di Amerika Serikat dan Meksiko, spesies kuwuk menghuni perairan California Tengah hingga Baja California ( kuwuk coklat adalah satu-satunya spesies kuwuk yang berasal dari Samudra Pasifik bagian timur di lepas pantai Amerika Serikat; lebih jauh ke selatan, di lepas pantai Meksiko, Amerika Tengah dan Peru, habitat kuwuk kijang kerdil dpat ditemukan; dan lebih jauh ke Pasifik dari Amerika Tengah, kisaran habitat Pasifik kuwuk uang dapat dicapai ^[1] ) serta perairan selatan Amerika Serikat Tenggara .^[2]

Deskripsi cangkang

Cangkang kuwuk biasanya halus dan mengkilat serta kurang lebih berbentuk telur. Sisi cangkang yang bulat disebut Muka Punggung, sedangkan sisi bawahnya yang rata disebut Muka Ventral, yang memperlihatkan bukaan panjang, sempit, seperti celah ( bukaan ), yang sering kali bergerigi di tepinya. Ujung cangkang kuwuk berbentuk telur yang lebih sempit adalah ujung anterior, dan ujung cangkang yang lebih lebar disebut posterior. Puncak cangkang tidak terlihat pada cangkang dewasa pada sebagian besar spesies, tetapi terlihat pada cangkang muda, yang bentuknya berbeda dari cangkang dewasa.

Hampir semua kuwuk memiliki kilau seperti porselen, dengan beberapa pengecualian seperti kuwuk kerikil Hawaii, Nucleolaria granulata . Banyak yang memiliki pola warna-warni. Panjangnya berkisar dari 5 mm untuk beberapa spesies hingga 19 cm untuk kuwuk kijang Atlantik, Macrocypraea cervus .
