Kekristenan di Afganistan

Kekristenan di Afganistan secara resmi tidak diakui keberadaannya. Republik Islam Afghanistan tidak mengakui warga Afganistan sebagai orang Kristen, warga Afganistan pun secara hukum tidak diizinkan untuk masuk agama Kristen. Meskipun tidak ada hukum yang eksplisit yang melarang dakwah, banyak pemerintah dan sebagian besar masyarakat melihat praktik sebagai yang bertentangan dengan keyakinan Islam.[1] Hanya ada satu gereja yang diakui secara hukum di Afganistan dan terletak di dalam kantong diplomatik, dan tidak terbuka untuk warga negara setempat.[1] Ada juga sarana ibadah Kristen di pangkalan militer asing, seperti gereja Ortodoks Timur di pangkalan Rumania di Kandahar.[2][3][4]

Banyak sumber namun mengklaim bahwa ada sebuah gereja bawah tanah rahasia yang terdiri dari orang Kristen yang tinggal di Afganistan.[1][5][6] Departemen luar negeri AS telah menyatakan bahwa perkiraan ukuran kelompok ini berkisar 500-8.000 individu.[1] Alkitab lengkap tersedia secara online dalam bahasa Dari,[7] dan Perjanjian Baru tersedia dalam bahasa Pashtun.[8] Versi cetak juga dapat dibeli di luar negeri. Ada sejumlah orang Kristen Afganistan di luar negeri, termasuk komunitas-komunitas Kristen di Amerika Serikat,[9] Britania Raya,[10] Kanada,[11] Norwegia[12] dan Austria.[13]
