Kampung Bokok atau hanya Bokok, adalah sebuah desa di Daerah Temburong, Brunei Darussalam, sekitar 10 kilometer (6,2 mil) dari kota Bangar. Populasinya adalah 160 jiwa pada tahun 2021.^[1] Ini adalah salah satu desa di Mukim Bokok. Kode posnya adalah PE1951.^[2]

Etimologi

Nama historis Kampung Bokok adalah alasan mengapa tempat ini dikenal sebagai "Bokok." Ada dua cerita mengenai asal usul nama "Bokok", menurut para tetua desa. Yang pertama berasal dari Sungai Bokok, sungai kecil yang bermuara di Sungai Rataie. Kedua, nama ini berasal dari takuyung (Potamides cerithium) yang dikenal sebagai takuyung bakak di Murut. Karena bentuknya yang menyerupai manusia yang sedang membungkuk, orang Melayu umumnya menyebutnya sebagai Bokok.^[3]

Demografi

Kampung Bokok memiliki komunitas yang beranggotakan 464 orang yang tinggal di lahan seluas 63 hektar, 226 pria dan 238 wanita, pada tahun 2018. Ada 395 orang Melayu, 45 orang Iban, dan 24 ras lainnya di antara mereka. Ada 419 orang Muslim secara keseluruhan, dengan anggota yang tersisa dari berbagai agama lain.^[4]

Infrastruktur

Pendidikan

Sekolah Agama Bokok merupakan sekolah pemerintah desa untuk pendidikan dasar agama Islam di negara tersebut .

Masjid

Masjid desa ini adalah Masjid Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar. Diresmikan pada tanggal 26 Februari 1988 dan mampu menampung 200 jamaah.^[5]
