Desa (bahasa Melayu: kampung atau kampong) adalah pembagian administratif ketiga dan terendah di Brunei Darussalam. Desa dikepalai oleh seorang kepala desa (ketua kampung). Beberapa desa dikelompokkan bersama untuk membentuk mukim. Desa pada umumnya adalah permukiman pedesaan tradisional, khususnya dalam pengertian kampong atau desa tradisional Melayu, tetapi desa juga dapat berupa permukiman perkotaan di dalam atau di dekat ibu kota atau kota kecil, atau bagian dari perumahan umum. Jumlah penduduknya bervariasi dari ratusan hingga beberapa ribu jiwa.[1]

Desa-desa dikelola di bawah kantor distrik di distrik tempat desa tersebut berada.

Sebuah desa dikepalai oleh seorang ketua kampung. Kepala kampung adalah posisi yang dipilih oleh rakyat, di mana penduduk mencalonkan kandidat untuk jabatan distrik dan memberikan suara di antara para kandidat yang disetujui.[2] Calon tersebut dapat berusia antara 30 dan 55 tahun.[3] Orang yang dipilih akan menjabat hingga sepuluh tahun.[4]

Suatu desa juga dapat memiliki Majelis Perundingan Kampung, yang merupakan padanan dari asosiasi masyarakat setempat. Salah satu hasil utama dari dewan ini adalah Satu Kampung Satu Produk (disingkat "1K1P"), yang mempromosikan produk-produk lokal yang diproduksi di desa tersebut.[5]

Kampong Ayer

Meskipun Kampong Ayer memiliki istilah kampong dalam namanya, secara resmi kampong ini bukan merupakan subdivisi desa. Faktanya, Kampong Ayer terdiri dari beberapa desa yang membentuk beberapa mukim.[6]
