Harta Harpol

Sebuah kalung emas dan batu permata berusia 1.300 tahun yang ditemukan oleh para arkeolog dari Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA) saat melakukan penggalian di Northamptonshire, Inggris.[1]

Kalung itu ditemukan oleh Vistry Group pada bulan April 2022 di pemakaman seorang wanita yang berstatus tinggi, sekitar tahun 630–670 Masehi. Penemuan ini adalah bagian dari kumpulan barang pemakaman yang disebut Harta Harpole, berdasarkan nama desa setempat.[2]

Kalung itu memiliki tiga puluh liontin dan manik-manik yang terbuat dari emas, koin Romawi, kaca, garnet, dan batu permata semi mulia. Pada bagian tengah liontin persegi panjang terdapat motif salib yang terbuat dari batu garnet merah dan emas.[1] Melalui gambar sinar-x menujukan salib yang berda ditengah dihiasi dengan salib emas yang lebih kecil, dengan garnet besar dan empat garnet yang lebih kecil. Pada ujung setiap lengan terdapat salib kecil melingkar yang terbuat dari perak lengkap dengan garnet dan emas di bagian tengahnya.[3] Sebelumnya telah banyak ditemukan jenis kalung seperti ini di pemakaman wanita yang berasal dari masa ini. Seperti liontin Winfarthing yang ditemukan di Nirfolk pada tahun 2014, dan kalung Desborough yang juga ditemukan di Northamptoshire, pada tahun 1876, yang sekarang tersimpan di Britis Museum.[2]

Artefak lain juga ditemukan pada penggalian ini, yaitu dua pot piringan dan tembaga berhias. Hasil pemeriksaan dengan sinar-x, menggambarkan wajah manusia yang terbuat dari perak. Kerangka itu hanya menyisakan fragmen kecil dari enamel gigi, karena baginnya sudah rusak dan membusuk.[1]

Sampai saat ini para konsevator MOLA sedang menganalisis temuannya dan terus menelusuri sisa-sisa organik di pemakaman seorang wanita yang diduga seorang bangsawan kristen yang hidup pada periode Anglo-Saxon.[3]
