Garuda Indonesia Penerbangan 035 adalah penerbangan domestik Garuda Indonesia yang jatuh menabrak tonggak menara dan jatuh pada saat melakukan pendekatan ke landasan di Bandar Udara Internasional Polonia, Medan, Indonesia pada tanggal 4 April 1987.[1] 23 orang dari 45 penumpang dan kru yang ada di dalam pesawat tersebut tewas dalam kecelakaan tersebut.

Kecelakaan

Pesawat ini berada pada pendekatan dengan Instrumen Landing System pada saat terjadi di Bandar Udara Internasional Polonia.[2] Pesawat ini menabrak tiang listrik dan keluar dengan cepat dari landasan. Pesawat ini hancur dan bagian ekor terpisah dan terbakar.[3]

Sebagian besar korban yang selamat melarikan diri melalui kerusakan pada pesawat dan 11 lainnya terlempar dari pesawat.[3] Empat dari delapan awak tewas dan 19 penumpang mengalami luka fatal karena menghirup asap dan luka bakar.[3] Empat kru dan 18 penumpang mengalami luka serius.[3] Semua korban meninggal karena kebakaran dan bukan karena dampak dengan tanah.[3]

Pesawat

Penerbangan ini menggunakan pesawat Douglas DC-9-32 buatan 1976 dengan seri pendaftaran PK-GNQ. Pesawat ini dihapus dari armada sesudah kecelakaan.[4]Saat ini, nomor registrasi tersebut diberikan kepada salah satu pesawat Boeing 737-800.[5]
