FrieslandCampina adalah sebuah koperasi susu asal Belanda, yang merupakan hasil penggabungan dari Royal Friesland Foods dan Campina, pada bulan Desember 2008. Merek utama dari FrieslandCampina antara lain Friesche Vlag, Chocomel, Fristi, Dutch Lady, Appelsientje, Milner, Campina, Landliebe, Optimel, Mona dan Mix'it. FrieslandCampina adalah koperasi susu terbesar di dunia dan merupakan salah satu dari hanya lima perusahaan susu di dunia yang berhasil mencatatkan pendapatan tahunan lebih dari 11,4 miliar Euro. FrieslandCampina memiliki kantor cabang di 28 negara dan mempekerjakan 21.186 orang. Produk FrieslandCampina didistribusikan ke lebih dari 100 negara di dunia.

Sejarah

Royal FrieslandCampina adalah sebuah koperasi, dengan sejarahnya dimulai pada tahun 1879. FrieslandCampina pun tumbuh melalui serangkaian penggabungan dan akuisisi.

Pada akhir tahun 1997, empat koperasi susu asal Belanda memutuskan untuk bergabung dan membentuk Friesland Coberco Dairy Food. Pada bulan Juni 2004, Ratu Beatrix dari Belanda memberikan status Royal kepada FCDF, sehingga mereka memutuskan untuk berganti nama menjadi Royal Friesland Foods.

Sementara itu, Campina didirikan pada tahun 1989 sebagai hasil penggabungan dari dua koperasi susu lokal, Melkunie Holland dan DMV Campina. Setelah bergabung, kedua koperasi ini lalu menggunakan nama Campina Melkunie, sampai tahun 2001, saat mereka memutuskan untuk menggunakan nama Campina saja.

Pada tahun 2004, Campina dan Arla Foods, mengumumkan rencananya untuk bergabung,[1] namun rencana ini akhirnya dibatalkan pada bulan April 2005 karena sebuah alasan yang tidak diungkapkan.[2] Walaupun begitu, kedua perusahaan ini menyatakan akan tetap mempertimbangkan bentuk-bentuk kerjasama lain.

Pada tanggal 19 Desember 2007, Campina dan Friesland Foods mengumumkan bahwa mereka tengah mendalami kemungkinan untuk bergabung. Uni Eropa pun menyetujui rencana penggabungan ini, asalkan mereka setuju untuk menjual beberapa divisi keju dan susu tertentu.[3]
