Bulu (bahasa Jawa: ꦧꦸꦭꦸ) adalah sebuah kecamatan yang masuk wilayah Kabupaten Temanggung.

Geografi

Kecamatan Bulu adalah salah satu dari 20 kecamatan di wilayah Kabupaten Temanggung, Jarak dari Kota Temanggung 6 Km dengan luas 4.304 Ha. Dengan rincian Lahan Sawah 1.364 Ha dan Bukan Lahan Sawah 2.940 Ha. Kecamatan Bulu Kabupaten Temanggung dalam pembagian wilayah Administrasi terbagi menjadi 19 Desa, 91 Dusun, 297 RT, 84 RW. dengan jumlah Kades 19, perangkat desa 240 dan anggota BPD 155.

Demografi

Berdasarkan Registrasi tahun 2008 Kecamatan Bulu dengan jumlah penduduk 43.180 jiwa yang terdiri dari 21.547 laki-laki, 21.633 perempuan, kepadatan penduduk 1.003 per Km2. Angka kelahiran kasar (CBR) 10,17 per 1000 jiwa, Angka Kematian Kasar (CDR) 5,63 per 1000 jiwa, Jumlah rumah tangga pada tahun 2008 sebanyak 10.886 rumah tangga dengan rata-rata penduduk per rumah tangga sebanyak 3-4 orang per rumah tangga. Jumlah penduduk berusia 5 tahun keatas yang menamatkan perguruan tinggi hanya 676 jiwa, tamat Akademi / sarjana muda sebesar 294 jiwa, tamat SLTA sederajat sebesar 3.019 jiwa, tamat SLTP sederajat 4.427 jiwa, tamat SD sederajat sebesar 18.196 jiwa, tidak / belum tamat SD sebesar 12.594 jiwa. Jumlah penduduk menurut mata pencaharian masih didominasi oleh sektor pertanian yaitu 16.630 jiwa, yang bekerja pada sektor industri hanya 348 jiwa, sektor bangunan 768 jiwa, pedagang 2.625 jiwa, yang bekerja pada sektor angkutan sebesar 558 jiwa, Jasa 2.491 jiwa dan sektor lainnya.

Potensi

Tanaman yang dapat dikembangkan di Kecamatan Bulu antara lain: Padi, Jagung, Ketelal Pohon, Ketela Rambat, Kacang Tanah dan Kacang Kedelai. Untuk Tanaman sayuran antara lain: Bawang Merah, Kobis, Lombok, Sawi, Kacang Merah. Untuk Buah-buahan antara lain: Durian, Rambutan, Jambu Biji, Pepaya, Pisang. Tanaman Perkebunan antara lain: Kopi Arabika, Kopi Robusta, Cengkih, Kelapa, Jahe, Kunyit, Tembakau, Panili, Melinjo. Peternakan antara lain: Sapi Potong, Kerbau,, Kuda, Kambing, Domba, Kelinci, Ayam Buras, Ayam Ras, Itik, Entok, Burung Puyuh, Angsa. Perikanan antara lain: Lele, Karper, Nila, Gabus, Udang, Kodok. Potensi alam seperti mata air/ tok yang berada di desa mondoretno dan pandemulyo.

Wisata

Candi dan Prasasti Gondosuli di desa Gondosuli Kecamatan Bulu, sekitar 13 km ke arah Barat dari kota Temanggung, merupakan saksi bisu masa kejayaan Dinasty Syailendra. Dikawasan ini terdapat reruntuhan Candi Gondosuli yang berarsitek Hindu yang dibangun oleh anak raja Syailendra bernama Rakai Rakarayan Patapan Pu Palar yang juga adik ipar raja Mataram Rakai Garung. Prasasti Gondosuli ditulis dengan huruf Jawa Kuno sebanyak lima baris dan berisi tentang filsafat dan ungkapan kemerdekaan serta kejayaan Syailendra. Mata air tok mulyo di desa pandemulyo yang menawarkan pemandangan asri bukit dan air yang jernih.
