Ir. Bahal Raja Tua Tambunan, S.T. (lahir 23 Februari 1974) adalah seorang ahli geologi asal Indonesia yang menjabat sebagai anggota senior AAPG sejak 2017.

Ia bekerja di Eni S.p.A, sebuah perusahaan minyak dan gas multinasional asal Italia yang beroperasi di lebih dari 40 negara,^[1] Ia telah menerbitkan beberapa artikel di jurnal dan konferensi Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) dan AAPG, ia sekarang merupakan anggota dari Ikatan Ahli Geologi Indonesia (IAGI).^[2]

Kehidupan awal dan pendidikan

Ia lahir di Sidikalang, sebuah kota di Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. Ia berasal dari suku Batak dan memiliki nama marga Tambunan, yang merupakan salah satu marga dari suku Batak Toba. Ia menempuh pendidikan dasar dan menengah di Sidikalang, di mana ia mengembangkan minatnya pada ilmu pengetahuan dan matematika. Ia kemudian melanjutkan pendidikan tingginya di Institut Teknologi Bandung, di mana ia lulus dengan gelar sarjana teknik geologi program studi teknik geofisika pada tahun October 1997.^[3]

Karier

Bahal memulai karier sebagai geolog di VICO, sebuah perusahaan minyak dan gas asal Amerika dan Inggris yang kemudian bergabung dengan Eni, pada tahun 1997. Ia bekerja pada berbagai proyek eksplorasi dan produksi di berbagai wilayah di Indonesia, seperti Sumatra, Jawa, Kalimantan, dan Sulawesi. Ia juga berpartisipasi dalam kerjasama internasional dengan perusahaan minyak dan gas lainnya, seperti Shell, Chevron, dan Total. Pada tahun 2000, ia bergabung dengan Eni sebagai geosaintis senior dan ditugaskan ke divisi minyak dan gas bumi.^[4]

Ia juga bekerja pada proyek minyak dan gas bumi di negara-negara lain, seperti Libya, Pakistan, Angola, Ghana, dan Italia.^[5]

Selain proyek minyak dan gas, Ia juga terlibat dalam proyek minyak dan gas lainnya dengan Eni, seperti lapangan gas Merakes di Indonesia dan Blok 15/06 di Angola.^[6]

Kehidupan pribadi

Tambunan menikah dan memiliki dua anak berusia 16 dan 17 tahun. Ia tinggal di Jakarta, Indonesia.^[7]
