Artritis atau radang sendi[1] (bahasa Inggris: arthritis) adalah peradangan pada satu atau lebih persendian, yang disertai dengan rasa sakit, kebengkakan, kekakuan, dan keterbatasan bergerak.[2]

Penyebab

Artrhitis dapat terjadi akibat infeksi maupun tanpa infeksi. Pelepasan mediator inflamasi dari leukosit, kondrosit, sinoviosit menyebabkan kehilangan proteoglikan dan matriks ektraselular kartilago, sehingga terjadi kerusakan tulang. Kerusakan dan hilangnya kolagen dan kondrosit dapat menyebabkan perubahan yang tidak dapat kembali.[3]

Terdapat lebih dari 100 bentuk artritis.[4] Bentuk yang paling umum, yakni osteoartritis disebabkan oleh trauma pada persendian, infeksi pada persendian, atau usia.[4] Artitis lainnya yaitu artritis reumatoid, artritis psoriatik, dan penyakit autoimun. Artritis sepsis disebabkan oleh infeksi pada sendi.[4]

Gejala klinis

Gejala klinis yang disebabkan artritis adalah adanya rasa sakit, panas, dan pembengkakan pada persendian lutut (gejala panca radang).[3] Terasa adanya fluktuasi, sakit dan panas, kemerahan; secara umum penderita menjadi demam jika sakit sudah menjadi sepsis, frekuensi nadi dan napas frekuen, pincang yang hebat bahkan kadang sampai penderita tidak dapat berdiri.[3]
