Anita Aarons (6 November 1912 - 3 Januari 2000) adalah seorang seniman Australia dan Kanada.

Kehidupan

Lahir di Sydney, Aarons belajar di East Sydney Technical College[1] dan National Art School di Sydney sebelum pindah ke New York City, tempat dia lulus dari Universitas Columbia pada tahun 1964.Templat:Sitasi dibutuhkan Ia memamerkan karyanya di berbagai tempat di Amerika Serikat, Kanada, dan Australia. Ia mengajar seni pahat dan kerajinan tangan di sejumlah institusi, serta mendesain kaca patri jendela, perabot, dan perhiasan, selain bekerja sebagai pematung. Koleksi yang mencakup contoh-contoh karyanya antara lain Koleksi Kerajinan Nasional Charlottetown dan Koleksi Nasional Serikat Pengrajin Kanada di Toronto.[2]

Pada tanggal 25 Juni 1951, Aarons diundang untuk menghadiri pertemuan Komite Kesehatan dan Rekreasi Kota Sydney untuk membahas pengajuannya untuk mendirikan sebuah patung di taman bermain anak-anak di Phillip Park. Dewan menyetujui pengajuan tersebut pada tanggal 2 Oktober 1951. Patung tersebut dipindahkan pada tanggal 2 April 1952.[1]

Pada tahun 1965, ia menjadi kritikus untuk Journal RAIC milik Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, menulis sebuah kolom berjudul Seni Sekutu mengenai peran kerajinan dalam arsitektur.[3]

Pada tahun 1983, ia dianugerahi Diplome d'Honneur dari Konferensi Seni Kanada.[4]

Aarons kembali ke Australia pada akhir hayatnya dan menetap di Brisbane, di mana ia meninggal pada tanggal 3 Januari 2000.[4][5]

Koleksi Khusus Galeri Seni Ontario menyimpan koleksi kecil enam belas rekaman audio Anita Aarons yang mewawancarai tokoh-tokoh seni Kanada atau tokoh-tokoh dunia yang aktif pada tahun 1970-an dan 1980-an. Termasuk di antaranya adalah Ron Bloore, Graham Coughtry, Dorothy Cameron, Guido Molinari, Yves Gaucher, Ted Bieler, Gordon Rayner, dan Jack Pollock.[6]

Aarons juga memiliki karya berjudul "Year of the Moon", yang juga dipamerkan di Art Gallery of NSW.[7]
